After taking first place at the Ragnar Relay as a female ultra team(with 5 members) on July 26th. I have ran only once, until today that is......

I have been diagnosed with stress fractures in my foot and have been told no "impact" exercise until further notice. I was released to run this week 3 times @ 3 miles each with at least 1 day between each run. I will see how this goes and then I can do 4 miles next week. The total miles for the week are less than I previously ran on a daily basis. Patience is the word that describes what I must practice through this injury.

I have a 30K scheduled for the 5th of September, a 50 K the 25th and a marathon for both October and November! I certainly hope my foot hurries and gets better or I will surely go crazy!

One good thing is the bike riding and elliptical have kept my endurance level up. The 3 miles today was a piece of cake, hopefully there will not be swelling tomorrow.

I have been commuting home from work on my bike and sometimes both ways. That helps me get in a 25-45 mile bike ride and only takes ~30 extra minutes over riding the bus.

You never know what you'll do to release those endorphins. I have also learned to enjoy riding my bike which I didn't enjoy in the past. I will continue to use the bike and elliptical as cross training methods to stay healthy as a runner once I'm back up to full speed.

I am on the mend:)

I just finished the Seattle Rock n Roll marathon; I have been treating plantar fascia and was concerned about the stress on my foot. It's amazing the amount of pain you can endure when you put your mind to it. My thought was eventually it will go numb and I won't be able to feel it, true enough that's what happened and I finished the race. It wasn't my fastest run but considering the circumstance I'm proud of myself.

My next race is The Ragnar Relay.....185 miles, from Canada to Whidbey Island. We are running as an ultra team and I have requested the toughest leg. 37 miles, sometimes I need to check my sanity level because it is lacking here.

I need to take it easier for a week or two. My plan is to ride my bike, get an elliptical and continue strength training. If I can't run again soon I will go nuts! I have 3 more distance races scheduled this year and some short ones.

Acupuncturists and massage therapists are my new best friends!
